The 33 GH/s version of the VolcMiner D1 Hydro, released in June 2025, is a hydro-cooled Scrypt ASIC for Litecoin and Dogecoin. It draws 9300 W, which works out to 282 J/GH.

Rankings use the algorithm's main coin (BTC for SHA-256, LTC + DOGE for Scrypt): small side chains may pay more per hash today but can't absorb much hashrate.
The VolcMiner D1 Hydro (33Gh) is an ASIC miner by Volcminer for the Scrypt algorithm, rated at 33.0 GH/s on 9,300 W. It came out in June 2025. Its efficiency of 281.8 J/GH is close to the median Scrypt miner we track (310.0 J/GH). At $0.036/kWh it ranks #12 of 68 Scrypt miners by daily profit, earning about $3.66 a day mining LTC + DOGE. The best price on AsicProfit is $5,799. At today's rates it would pay for itself in about 1584 days. It is water-cooled (hydro), so it needs a cooling loop and a dry cooler instead of fans.

How do I update the firmware on a VolcMiner D1?
AsicProfit SupportAsicProfit · Oct 29, 2026
Download the firmware for your exact model from VolcMiner's support site, then in the miner's web interface open the Configuration page and use the Upgrade option, and reboot when it finishes. Do not mix files between the air, Lite, Mini and Hydro versions, and keep power stable during the upgrade. The user manual is also on VolcMiner's support pages.

can the D1 merge mine LTC and DOGE at the same time?
AsicProfit SupportAsicProfit · Oct 23, 2026
Yes. All D1 variants run Scrypt, so on a pool with merged mining you mine Litecoin and also receive Dogecoin plus smaller coins such as Pepecoin and Bells without extra power. Set your Litecoin address and a worker name as the username, and fill in all three pool slots so the miner falls back automatically if one connection drops.

What do I need to run a D1 Hydro? Can I just plug it in like an air miner?
AsicProfit SupportAsicProfit · Oct 21, 2026
No. A Hydro unit needs an external water loop: a pump, a dry cooler or other heat exchanger to dump about 7.6 kW of heat, hoses and fittings, and suitable coolant. It also needs heavy-duty power, a dedicated circuit sized by an electrician for its full draw. Ask the seller for VolcMiner's manual for your revision, which gives the inlet temperature, flow and electrical requirements, before you build the loop.

Which D1 version gives better returns, the 16, the 18.5 or the Hydro?
AsicProfit SupportAsicProfit · Oct 20, 2026
Efficiency per GH is fairly similar across the bins, around 0.23 to 0.25 J/MH, so the bigger differences are the purchase price per GH, your power price, and for the Hydro the extra cost of the water loop and dry cooler. Merged coin income is the same per GH on all of them. Enter each version's hashrate and power into the calculator on this page at your electricity price and compare payback.

What's the difference between the VolcMiner D1 air versions and the D1 Hydro?
AsicProfit SupportAsicProfit · Oct 18, 2026
The air-cooled D1 comes in bins around 16 to 18.5 GH/s and draws roughly 3.7 to 4.3 kW, with loud fans around 75 dB. The D1 Hydro is water-cooled, roughly 30 GH/s at about 7.6 kW in the common bin, and much quieter at the unit, around 50 dB, because the heat leaves through the coolant. Higher Hydro bins exist, so check the exact model, hashrate and power on the nameplate.

Is the air-cooled D1 usable at home, say in a spare room or basement?
AsicProfit SupportAsicProfit · Sep 28, 2026
It is hard to live with. At around 75 dB it is as loud as a vacuum cleaner, and it puts out roughly 3.7 to 4.3 kW of heat, so it needs a garage, outbuilding or ventilated room with ducting for hot air. One seller rates the 16 GH/s version for ambient up to 35 C. It also needs a circuit sized by an electrician for its full load.
