Questions
How is mining ROI calculated?
ROI is the net profit over the period (revenue after the pool fee, minus electricity, minus the hardware price) divided by the hardware price. Payback is the first month in which the running total turns positive.
What is a good payback period for an ASIC miner?
Most buyers aim for payback well before the next halving, since Bitcoin miners' revenue roughly halves then. Today that means under about 18 months for new Bitcoin hardware.
Why do cheap older miners sometimes pay back faster?
A lower price can outweigh worse efficiency when electricity is cheap. At higher power prices, efficient machines win because older ones stop being profitable.
Are the miner prices accurate?
Prices come from the cheapest public offer listed on AsicProfit and change often. You can type your own price; the ranking only uses a price when it is believable for the model (for Bitcoin miners, $4 to $60 per TH).
